“In our markets, satellite and cellular are complementary. While cellular networks retain certain advantages over satellites, including low latency and better weather propagation, the advent of non-GEO satellites will improve network performance and potentially drive down the cost of cellular in rural markets. Most importantly, should a subscriber roam into a remote area, on-demand LEO backhaul capacity will deliver the same performance the user would expect from an urban cell site.
While iNet owns a cellular network, we also use satellites and other last-mile access technologies to improve throughput, raise availability and provide greater geographic flexibility to serve our customers. We have standard VSAT offerings in our portfolio today and expect to have LEO VSAT solutions very soon and hedge technology change by supporting a variety of access technologies. What is clear to me is that being network agnostic is the best way to succeed in this business.”
